Detailed Scan at ESH

At last, I was able to go for the detailed scan today (@21weeks+) to assess whether my pregnancy is progressing healthily and whether bb fu-jun is developing well.

My appointment was scheduled at 2.30pm, but i managed to arrive at East Shore Hospital very much earlier, as i went for lunch with Kun (we had teochew porridge somewhere nearby). So it was about a 45mins wait before it was our turn.

Kun was called in after my scan was finished to see the baby. I was instructed to lie down while waiting for the radiographer to come in. When she did, she told me she will show me a video first and then show my hubby the bb on screen after the scan was completed. I was wondering what "video" she meant and then came to realise it is just the process of scanning the little one. Each time she scan a certain part of the bb, she will label it on the screen (eg. face, foot, stomach, kidney, etc). The entire process was pretty boring as the environment was pretty still and quiet with no occasional chattings at all, as i was hoping the radiographer would be able to explain to me what she was doing at that point of time. I had this urge to talk to her like asking her for further explanation but seeing her so deep in concentration, decided against the thought.

After the whole process was completed, she told me..."baby is doing ok" (which of course i was happy and relieved to hear) and proceeded to walk out to call my hubby in. Baby weighs 424g.

Kun came in thereafter, but it was another lady who walked in other than the radiographer, who was tasked to show kun the bb. This lady showed kun the bb in black and white image instead of colour which i was expecting. Fu Jun was happily kicking and playing in my womb. We were of course witnessing the scene and I could feel his kicks as they coincide with his kick movements on the screen. Kun told the lady that probably bb is going to be a footballer next time :P

Kun actually spoke to my tummy (aka baby) after the scan, "Ah huh, saw liao! Caught u kicking mummy ah!!" (like notti notti!!)

We had an hour's wait again before our very huge x-ray report (showing bb different body parts) + results came in. Everything is normal thank goodness! I was told to bring along these to my Dr Heng during my next gynae visit.

All in all, i wasn't very happy with the service and quality of the scan. Cos before i went for my scan, a forum mummy (who also had the same gynae as me) told me that the lady showed her a colored image of the baby to her hubby, but she never showed it to kun! I actually asked her how come ours not viewed in color she told me it would not be clear to see it in color since it would only be so after six months. The forum mummy told me that the colored image was not v clear anyway and when she requested for a re-scan, the lady told her the baby is moving and it would only be clearer at 28-30weeks. The excuses given seem to be pretty crap to me. In addition, the price we paid for ($222.45 after GST) is generally steeper compared to the cost of detailed scans at other hospitals, and we don't get to keep the scans of baby!! (and then not to mention they were in black and white somemore). Their service also not very up to my expectations as I was hoping for a more "entertaining" radiographer who would explain to me what she was exactly doing and the baby part developments, but i saw none of this happening.

Other than the positive results, the whole scan was pretty disappointing, as it was like more of a "chop chop" thing.

Oh well, now i can rest my worries till my day to "pop"!

The Real Hard Kick

Baby prince is growing stronger as each day passes.

He was super active yesterday night when his mummy was sleeping, so much that she couldn't actually sleep very well....When mummy put her hand on her left side of her tummy yesterday (after she felt a kick), baby prince kicked that area real hard for his second kick that there was a felt bump that protruded out of that area just for that few seconds. Mummy got startled for that moment cos she didn't expect the effect to be that strong! Well daddy said i was giving a hi^5 to mummy, perhaps i really was since i know her hand was there. HAHA.

Mummy slept on her sides and i will kick and move. Mummy lie flat on her back while sleeping i will kick and move too. I'm an active and strong boy!

Mummy and daddy going to baby steph's one-month shower later. Enjoy~

Appointment at 19weeks

Finally mummy had a chance to see me again after a one month's wait during her gynae appointment yesterday (one month always seem v long to her)...The clinic was especially crowded yesterday and all the seats were almost taken up.

Before that mummy told me to say hi to her and daddy during the scan....while waiting, mummy felt quite a lot of discomfort in her tummy area (dunno issit caused by my movements like i was partying inside or mummy's tummy had a lot of wind)...daddy said, "see lor, tell our son to say hi to us"...mummy then replied him, "maybe fu-jun (my tentative name) is excited he's going to see us! =)"

So mummy had a long list of queries to ask Dr Heng when she saw her....she gladly and jovially replied to mummy's questions with her usual bright smile on her face...Dr Heng told mummy there is no problem for her to seek the root canel treatment, plus the injection and the x-ray needed for the operation, she also wrote down two antibiotic names which mummy could take from the dentist...in addition, she also prescribed medication for her flu, cough and sore throat (mummy take a longer time to heal this time as she is pregnant - low immunity most likely). Finally mummy realised she gained about 3kg so far since the start of pregnancy when she stepped on the weighing machine at the clinic.

So mummy saw me on the screen. This time i am 15.92cm at 19 weeks+ and i weigh 304g. Both my hands were under my head (like i was sleeping) and i was facing directly at the screen like i was actually looking at mummy they all (aren't i cute?!)..mummy was full of joy when she saw the image...and even said, "how ke ai orh!!" (hehe i know i am cute aniwaez).

Dr Heng mentioned to mummy again that i'm a boy though she already knows...hehe...I am of the right weight and size so no problem. Dr Heng even said i have big eyes and mummy is overjoyed to hear that =P Everything looks good so far.

Daddy said he saw my KKB (hahaha!! if u dunno wad it is, ask mami) and even said gynae naughty why focus on that area. Mummy said gynae has to scan every part ma! *aiyoz*...hehehe!!

Mummy cheered up alot after the visit, as she knows everything is ok and she can safely go for the root canel without any worries. She will go to the scheduled dental appointment tonight. Though she's scared but the thought of being able to eat well and normal again for me and herself makes her even more determined to go for it (jia you to mummy!)

Her triple test result came back as well - screen negative with the risk of down's at 1:1500, so is considered good. She is satisfied. Next will be the detailed scan that she is worried about *crosses fingers*

Mummy is home again today as she still has the flu and cough so don't want to go office to spread to her colleagues (Besides she feels she wants to rest more at home so she can recover faster). She coughed very badly yesterday afternoon in the office as her throat itches her like crazy. It was really embarrassing coughing so much in that quiet office.
