Last dose of 6-in-1

Little kyan had his last dose of the 6-in-1 jab on wednesday.

The jab this time round seemed to be stronger as his fever persisted for at least a day, comparatively to the first two jabs where the fever wasn't that persistent.

Dr Vanessa did her usual examinations on kyan. This time round, she voiced out that kyan's weight is lower than the normal percentile, which means that we have to pay more attention to his weight gain. He is in fact, pretty lightweight and is smaller than normal-sized babies. It got me worried. How to gain weight when he doesn't want to drink milk? Dr Vanessa advised us to add in milk to whatever solids which we may offer to him, like cereals or fruits. She mentioned that kyan should be drinking 800ml per day to be on the good side. 500 to 600ml is like the passing mark now.

She added that we should not start on porridge so soon, but after he turned seven months. So for now, its only cereals and purees.

Mummy is stressed. Baby yo, can't u just guai guai drink milk...don't drink how to gain weight neh?

No more further jabs till he turns one year old, unless we want to let him take the pneumoccocal jab...daddy wants to administer little kyan for the jab only after he is one year old, cos i guess he is heartpain seeing kyan get poked so many times (and mummy too).

Pneumoccal jab, if administered on his seven month, will have to be taken 3x. After 12 months - 2x and 24months - 1x

Each jab freakingly costs $170!

New weaning recipe...porridge!

My mil started kyan out on porridge today and he absolutely loves it!

Heard that he wanted to eat more but mil and kun stopped feeding him, cos they were afraid he didn't know how to control...somemore first try ma, better start small..

I will have to learn how to make porridge for him also, felt ashamed that i know nuts about cooking.

My uncle has invited little kyan to be the "boy jumper on his new bed" for his big wedding event next saturday....wow, looking forward to it!

Tomorrow little kyan will take his last dose of 6-in-1...hmm, hope he doesn't have fever...*crosses fingers*...as now his teething, it seem to double his chances of having fever...

I'm So So So So soooooooooo tired. I'm having terrible tuesday blues as yesterday was the Hari Raya holiday. Sian to go work man...

Gymboree Lesson - 19Sep

We headed to Harbourfront and reached there at 11.55am before the start of the gymboree lesson at 12pm.

The instructor greeted the children with a clown figure singing a song...

Can you spot kyan and me? Very obvious la huh...the third person counting from the left of the clown...

The instructor guided us parents with a series of steps to enhance the babies' exploration skills, like getting us to lie on our back and putting the baby on our legs in mid-air while talking and singing, putting the baby on our laps, swinging them lightly from side to side while singing in a merri-go-round kind of rhythm. Fun but tiring for mummy! hahaha...

Next the instructor advised us to let our babies use the equipment like the slides, swings they have there...to enhance their motor skills...

Next up colourful balls came tumbling out as we sat in a circle...The babies love the colorful balls! In fact a number of them were putting them into their mouths...haha! Some of them drooling and all...lol...anyway, kyan was pretty nonchalent actually. Wasn't that excited i wonder whether he really loves flooding in the midst of the colorful round things.

Haha this little kid was enthusiastic being #1 ball catcher. He was the first to reach for the ball! His name is Leonard and he seems to be the oldest baby within the group.

Look at me trying to get him to grab a ball :-/

The instructor had also created a parachuting colorful effect for the babies to enjoy...i guess color simulation was the key factor throughout the program.

Baby Marissa, Baby Andrique and Me!!

We also get to enjoy watching and playing with bubbles sitting on the big parachute!

All in all kyan doesn't seem to be able to focus well on the instructor and the class itself. Perhaps he's still too young?

Poor boy is teething...so bad...lessons for little one

Little Kyan's bottom front teeth is popping out.

Poor boy is very discomforted. He keeps crying and crying, his tears flow down and he is extremely cranky and it has been especially difficult for him to fall asleep.

My poor baby. It hurts his mummy to see him like that :(

Kyan bite my finger when i tried rubbing teething gel on him. And he keeps rubbing his ears too. According to Jo, it is because of teething pain.

BIG SIGHZ....

I wish this period will be over soon....

And then to make things more difficult, kyan keeps flipping whenever we changed his diapers. He is overly-enthusiastic. Yes thats the word - OVERLY. He wants to flip even before we are done changing his diapers! And he keeps twisting his body so that he could flip and after we pinned him down he does it again and again and again. Don't see him small boy his strength quite alot woah. It is so difficult to change diapers or clothes now!

Some updates:-
Went for gymboree lesson at Harbourfront yesterday. Hmmz...i think little one is not concentrating enough. He keeps moving his focus elsewhere. My guess is that he's still too young.
But i'm not signing up for the lessons, since Lynn and Karen advised that it gets monotonous after some time.

Kindermusic up next, at Tanglin Mall.

Then Music Class at Harbourfront again. Managed to apply for the gymboree membership + two trial classes at a fee of $50.

Kyan is 6months old!

Kyan is six months old today! This day has finally come.

Why am i so obsessed with this six month mark?? Cos this means that little kyan is now fully ready to be on solids and I can officially give up breastfeeding!!!!!! Hooray!!!!! The six month is just like an official mark. Of course, i still hope to persevere breastfeeding till kyan is at least eight months. In fact I don't quite feel to set myself a target anymore...just trying as long as i can as long as i still have my milk supply.

I have been lazy to blog about the changes these days. Life goes on but little one has grown bigger, smarter and stronger! haha.

What warms me is the fact that everytime i reach home there is this big toothless grin that little one flashes to me. He will kick his hands and legs excitedly and i instantly knew he recognises mummy immediately and is looking forward to seeing me back. Ahhh....talk about the wonders of motherhood.

Kyan has managed to flip from his back to tummy and vice versa. He's also trying to push himself and my guess is he will learn to crawl very soon. Thats when we will start fencing all the sharp edges and corners.

And he loves to play "jump jump" when we carry him upright...he will use his legs and "jump" upwards. And he can never sit still now. Talk about being an active boy just like his dad...like father like son...haha!

Nowadays we start putting him in the playpen if he's alone cos he will roll onto the floor when we placed him on the mattress. One moment he's on the mattress and next moment could be on the floor liao...so to be safe...playpen is the solution. I was even thinking of playmat but thats an expensive investment and not quite worth i feel. Maybe a mattress or playpen could do an equivalent job.

Meal Schedule - Kyan's milk intake dropped. Nowadays he can only drink about 140ml every 4hours or sometimes even 5hours. The most he can go is 160ml, but seldom.
He is on one feed cereal and one feed puree daily.
